Heat pumps extract heat from the environment and transfer it to the pool water, making heating cheaper and more environmentally friendly than electric water heaters. Although the initial cost of pool heat pumps is higher, it pays for itself in significant energy savings. The heat pump is suitable for any type of pool and does not require sunlight for heating, which allows it to be used even on cold days with operating temperatures from 7°C, extending the swimming season for most of the year. The principle of operation of the heat pump is simple: it sucks in ambient air, heats it by compression, and transfers the heat to the pool water, allowing the pool to be used almost all year round, even outside the main season.
The temperature of the pool water should be no higher than 30°C, as warmer water may not be as refreshing in the summer and favours the growth of heat-loving algae and bacteria. In addition, some pool components may have temperature restrictions, so experts advise not to raise the temperature above 27-28°C.
Proper installation of the heat pump is critical. There should be enough space around the device: at least 100 cm from the back and side walls to the nearest obstacles, and in front of the pump fan - at least 250 cm of free space, which preferably is illuminated by the sun for as long as possible during the day.
